#301 Sandy Shores Condos [1]
condo 301 Jan 2025
Reviewed on 2025-02-03 by , Rock Island, IL United StatesFour months post hurricane and I didnt expect perfection but we had days on end of crazy loud drilling and renovations. Elevator was an issue alot of the time and that is the only thing I checked to make sure it was working. No chairs at the pool area to sit on was a disappointment. We wanted to put our money into the area because we love it and we would do it again but being reassured of the elevator and pool was all good was not the truth. The condo was clean and the views are phenomenal.
Great Stay as always
Reviewed on 2025-01-03 by Matthew M. , Fort Wayne, IN United StatesGreat stay once again. This was our 6th year at Sandy Shores. Although the hurricane hit, we were very pleased with how quickly everyone is trying to recover. We had no issues during our stay. Clean and beautiful as always. Already booked for 2025.

Sandy Shores
Reviewed on 2024-06-29 by , Frankfort, IL United StatesMy family and I rented two units, #301 and #305. #305 was a little nicer than #301 but they were both clean. You cannot beat the view from #305. The elevator is slow, but we were able to take the stairs, so it wasn’t a real issue. The pool is nice and maintained everyday. You cannot beat the view and location. It’s impossible to get any closer to the beach and you can walk across the street to John’s Pass. Would def stay again.
Wonderful vacation

Will be back.
Reviewed on 2024-04-21 by Patricia M. , Hamilton, ON CanadaOverall it’s a lovely unit. There’s a couple small things. We had to keep taking the lid off the toilet tank and pushing the thing that makes it fill with water. Had to do that at least 15 times during the week. The other thing was the TV. Horrible. Never rented a unit that didn’t have regular tv. The amount of money we pay for rent, there should be regular tv. Never got it to work all week.

Reviewed on 2023-08-03 by Brieanna M. , West Deptford, NJ United StatesThe condo was nice and clean and was everything we wanted. I do wish they left some more basic items like you see in other condos, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The bed was very comfortable, and the condo is very open and feels even bigger than it is.

Sandy Shores ...Always wonderful
Reviewed on 2023-07-29 by Katherine K. , Powell, OH United StatesWe have been staying at Sandy Shores for over 20 years and it’s such a great place! It’s all about location for us. Literally steps away from the beautiful white sandy beach and the ocean. The beach is always very clean and the condo has everything you need to make your stay relaxing and comfortable. If you are looking for a low key family vacation sight you can’t go wrong with Sandy Shores on Madeira beach!
Great Condo
Reviewed on 2023-07-07 by , Las Vegas, NV United StatesLocation was great, balcony faced a little more south than west so sun did not beat in or much on the balcony! The only bad experience, would be NO fresh towels or linens for 10 days! There are washers/dryers $1.50 ea on each floor but dryer on our floor didn't work, though we should NOT have to wash hand/bath towels. When they minimum starting supplies they mean it: 1 small bar of soap, no shampoo/lotion, TP was ok, no pan scrubber, 1 small bottle of dish soap, NO roll of paper towels. When called Sunhost said yeah thats the way it is, didn't seem to care. Be sure bring these items with you or be prepared to purchase and to the price of your trip. That being said 301 was a great unit and would stay again, just need to be aware.
Very unhappy.
Reviewed on 2023-06-18 by John T. , Chicago , IL United StatesMy family and I have been going for the past 5years every June and profit to this trip we absolutely loved it. Although unfortunately this trip we drove in from Chicago arriving at 1pm we understood check in is at 4pm but called to ask if for some reason the room would be ready early if we can be notified. The other families we knew staying in room 501 and 201 rooms were ready since 11am. We arrive and not until 4pm. Also, the worst thing we encountered this trip we we’ve never seen prior we’re all the roaches in the unit it was very unpleasant and disturbing. We never had this issue in years past and we would never stay again. Very unhappy with the service and stay. To top it off show up with groceries for the week and a pickup truck is in your parking spot and having to find the person yourself. Very unhappy and would not stay there again.

Reviewed on 2023-01-10 by Jennifer L. , Lebanon, IN United StatesI have rented two different condos at Sandy Shores now and have really loved both of them. If I am going to vacation in this area these condos are the place to be. Not only are they perfect to rent, the location of them is even better than one could ask for. We enjoy that the beach is never super crowded and you are walking distance to so much! If I were to ever invest in a condo of my own I would want it to be in this building.

Great beachfront condo with stunning views
Reviewed on 2022-08-11 by , Miami, FL United StatesThis was our second stay at a Sunhost property and we really enjoyed the wonderfully appointed condo and the beautiful beachfront views. We really love Madeira Beach and the property’s proximity to John’s Pass means you can literally park your car and not move it until you check out, everything you need is within walking distance; restaurants, wave runner rentals, fishing charters, etc. Location! The condo’s keyless entry and checkin/checkout is super convenient and we really enjoyed the pool area into the late evenings as well. We can’t wait to return next year!

Won't repeat
Reviewed on 2022-07-27 by , Lincoln, CA USWell located. Nice balcony. Everything else was less than satisfactory. Elevator only worked for a day and a half of our week-long stay. Was told sorry beyond our control. According to residents of the condo it has been an ongoing issue. Appliances were described as newer. Newer if you mean in the last couple of decades. The dishwasher did not work and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, they did replace it quickly. (But I think it was because I had already complained about the elevator.) Garbage disposal was jammed. (Repaired at the same time as the dishwasher was replaced.) Sofa had no support and was quite worn as was most of the woodwork, i.e. doors, door trim, baseboards. No amenities such we have found in other rentals such as beach towels and basic condiments. The unit wasn't filthy but not really clean either, streaks, dust bunnies and missed areas around sinks and mirror.

Reviewed on 2022-07-16 by , Naples, FL United StatesPoor. One of the worst vacations we’ve experienced. Checked in elevator not working had to carry all our stuff up 3 flights, dog barked next door to us all week (response from Sunhost was basically can’t do anything), drilling in garage Sunday night until 2am, last day went for walk came back locked out 8am - Sunhost programmed the lock to not work on checkout morning (no phone with us) so nobody could help. Got emergency service at 9am. Soaking wet from sweet being outside the whole time. Lastly, we left our door unlocked because no instructions from Sunhost that u had to turn the knob not just shut the door.
Great Location, Clean, Fresh Remodel
Reviewed on 2022-06-07 by , ider, AL UnknownRefreashing Balcony View, great location. Room was quite for the most part, there were daily loud moments as voices of the 3am folks talked, and concrete carried and amplified their tunes under and around the entrance door with no seals. The bed could use an upgrade but was tolerable. We had a few issues with appliances which were quickly fixed. We liked that Johns Pass was just across the street to ships and fresh fish, yogurt ice cream, and boat tours and Jet Ski s and the VFW. We used the stairs a lot because of the wait time on elevator. A good thing for over healthy carb burners; Breakfast and dinners on the balcony were nice. It was a 35 min drive to Clearwater and Fort Desoto and both worth seeing and boating around. The beach was nice, the water calm and the pool clean.

Great Place to Stay
Reviewed on 2021-11-01 by Laura L. , Hamilton, OH United StatesExcellent location, rooms were clean and spacious. On the negative side, feel there could be more things included, like coffee filters, paper towels etc. Bathroom had only one bar of soap so to wash hands, had to get the one out of the shower. Lots of rules and regulations posted everywhere, so suggest one should be added to ask folks not to keep their voices down in the hallways and to keep their kids quiet. Especially early in the morning/late at night. Also, there was no hair dryer in the room. If I'd have noticed 15 minutes later, I'd have been out of luck. Had to go to office to get one. And the person at the desk asked me to bring it back when finished, which I thought was a bit unreasonable.

301 Sandy Shores needs some TLC
Reviewed on 2021-06-11 by Claudia D. , Maumee, OH United StatesSunhost was really easy and nice to work with. Barbara especially she was the best supper nice and helpful. Our unit at Sandy Shores wasn’t the cleanest but they let us in earlier than expected. There was thick dust on the water tank in the closet where you hang your clothes, there weren’t any wash cloths or a hair dryer but when I called they said I could go to the office within a half hour (they were closing ) I could pick them up. The patio furniture table had food on it. Toilet wasn’t the cleanest under the rim. For paying a cleaning fee I was a little disappointed but just cleaned it myself. The cookware needs updated. All pans were scratched up Tefalon and eggs stuck. Utensils were really beat up. Beds were comfortable and sheets were clean. TV and internet worked well with smart TV capacity. The view and location were amazing . I like the pool is situated in front of the beach. Loved it was across from John’s Pass. A lot of traffic noise though so beware. Lots of hotrod cars and sirens. Last year I stayed and they were working on the fence same this year so lots of loud drilling of metal. I understand the need to improve but it happened during both my stays. Between both the street noise and the construction noise it wasn’t that relaxing at the pool. On the weekend it got very busy and the pool got cloudy and the bathroom was incredibly disgusting by the pool. I called the office and didn’t get Barbara and was told that I had to call John’s Pass Condos for that. I’m like but I booked through Sunhost she sighed and said she’d call for me? After the little bit of grief they did fix those issues. I’m indifferent on booking again here. I wish all the workers were as pleasant as Barbara. Thank you Barbara. In short: Sunhost I’d use again because of Barbara great location and views but street noise bad . Units can use some TLC
Great stay for a girls trip!
Reviewed on 2021-05-10 by , Liberty Township, OH United StatesI planned a girls trip here and it was the best place! With the bars, restaurants, and shopping right across the street at John’s pass, we were never far from a good time. The front desk was very nice and helpful! We arrived early in the morning and Dawn was able to get us into our condo early. The security of the units made us all feel safe. The beach was not very crowded which was nice. The pool area was clean and had plenty of seating. The washer and dryers are outside of the condo in the hall and you pay with quarters but it was not a big deal. Overall great trip and an awesome area!

Having coffee in the morning or watching the sunset from the balcony is worth your trip to Florida. Lots of lounge chairs and eating areas. Great vacation location.
